Domino’s sees Q2 net income rise
Domino’s Pizza has seen its second quarter profit rise by 55%, pushing revenues higher. J. Patrick Doyle, president and chief executive officer, said: "Our strong sales momentum in the U.S. is evidence of the success of our improved pizza and focus on operations. The increased sales were not just driven by trial, but by repeat orders from our new larger customer base. I continue to be bullish on the performance of our U.S. business. Meanwhile, despite the tough global economy, our international business continues to thrive - proving the strength of our international franchise business model.”
Net income rose to $22.6 million in the three months to June 20th up from $14.5 million a year earlier. Revenue increased by 14.5% to $362.4 million from $316.6 million, topping Wall Street’s estimates of $344.5 million. Revenue at US stores open at least a year rose by 8.8% on strong demand for Domino’s newest addition to its pizza range – a new pie which has a sauce and cheese combination as well as a flavoured crust. International same store sales also performed well, rising by 6.2% despite a weak global economy.
